Armadillo Asks: Clare Sage

We want to introduce you to the people who make Armadillo tick. So grab a coffee, settle back and say hello to Clare…

Name: Clare Sage
Job Title: Senior Account Manager
Joined Armadillo: May 2017

What’s your biggest achievement?
Buying my house last year. It was the most laborious process and all I talked (whinged) about for about 8 months. If you ask anyone in the office, they were probably so relieved when it all went through. I’ve been renovating it since January and it’s nearly done. Poor Joe has seen the progress photos every day since then, so he’ll be equally as happy when it’s finished!

What inspires you?
All of my talented colleagues. So many people here have really interesting side projects. It encourages me to get out and try different things to find something I’m passionate about – currently interior design and gardening!

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do?
I would go somewhere exotic for a couple of months and try to decide what to do long-term. Boring, but I want to make sure I don’t do something impulsive.

What’s your favourite quote?
Hakuna Matata – it means no worries.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
I would be able to wash, dry and iron clothes with just a look. How old does that make me sound!

What songs have you completely memorised?
Quite a mix actually, although I do usually sing the wrong words so maybe not completely memorised.

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?
Every year I say I’m going to learn French but I still haven’t done it! Maybe next year.

What did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to work in the local fish and chip shop. It looked like a lot of fun but after my 2 days’ work experience at McDonald’s I’ve realised it’s a lot harder than it looks!

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
Probably chatting, I love it.

What do you like most about your job?
All of the lovely people I work with and our clients. I don’t think I ever have a day where I’m not laughing or feeling really grateful to do what I do.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join Armadillo?
Be yourself. Everyone here has their own unique personality and that’s what makes it fun.

The best piece of advice Clare’s ever been given:

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

What are your favourite restaurants and bars in Bristol?
There are some great new cafes opening on Old Market. The new vegan one called Rabbit Food is great for a coffee and a cake.
I also love a Friday lunch at the Old Market Assembly, they have delicious food and a great roof terrace!
