Armadillo Asks: Anna Chubaeva

We want to introduce you to the people who make Armadillo tick. So grab a coffee, settle back and say hello to Anna…

Name? Anna Chubaeva

Job title? Digital Designer

Date joined Armadillo? 16 August 2021

What’s your biggest achievement (personal or professional)?

Personal: Work and travel when I was 19. Before that, I had a big language barrier and despite understanding English well, I would barely speak. Working as a waiter in the USA quickly fixed that.

Tell us something about you that might surprise us.

I finished music school and used to give piano concerts in my teens (I can’t play anymore though).

If you were stuck on a desert island, which book, film and album would you take?

The Sacred Book of the Werewolf by Viktor Pelevin

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Album ooof… give me the best Salsa mix so at least I can dance there.

What are some small things that make your day better?

Meeting a cat outside that lets me pet it.

What inspires you?

Beautifully written books.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been

 given?

My geometry teacher went into a long existential monologue one time: in short, it was to learn to do things on your own and enjoy your own company. For example, don’t be afraid to go to see a movie alone or travel solo.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do?

Japan here I come! On the practical side, I’d buy a place to live instead of renting.

What’s your favourite quote?

I’ve had this postcard for ages that says:
“When life gives you lemons, keep them, ’cause hey — free lemons.”

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?

Surfing.

What stat for your life would you most like to see?

How many cups of tea I never ended up drinking because I didn’t remember to take out the tea bag and it’s been sitting there for an hour cold and forgotten.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?

Eating dumplings.

What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

Pickled watermelon. Surprisingly nice.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

Teleportation

What is your favourite word in the English language, and why?

‘Murmur’ sounds adorable. ‘Mur’ is the word we use for one of the cat sounds in Russian similar to purr.

What and where is Bristol’s hidden gem?

Bristol’s Bad Film Club; watching movies that are so bad they are actually good (they really aren’t).

What did you want to be when you were a child?

An architect.

Describe what you do in 10 words or less

I create digital designs, mostly emails and social media assets.

How would you describe what Armadillo does?

Armadillo provides Customer Relationship Marketing solutions that are based on data and deliver stellar ROI.

What are the three best things about working at Armadillo?

Friendly people, great culture, and interesting projects.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the process of designing and then, of course, seeing it going live.
