Armadillo Asks: Rachel Pyke

We want to introduce you to the people who make Armadillo tick. So grab a coffee, settle back and say hello to Rachel…

Name? Rachel Pyke

Job title? Producer

Date joined Armadillo? 16th November 2020

What’s your biggest achievement (personal or professional)?

Solo travel to parts of Asia, Indonesia and Australia. Topping it off with a 15,000ft skydive over Cairns!

What are some small things that make your day better?

Sunshine, listening to music and discovering new songs, oh and a facetime with my nephew. If I’m visiting my parents than a coffee and a dog walk along the beach is also great!

Tell us something about you that might surprise us

I used to go to ballet classes and learnt to dance on pointe.

If you were stuck on a desert island, which book, film and album would you take?

My music taste is quite broad. I love drum and bass and dance music, but honestly, I’d take Abba Gold Greatest Hits as this just reminds me of my childhood and my grandad. My film of choice would have to be Pulp Fiction and my chosen book would probably be Susan Jeffers Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. I was told to read this recently and I feel like I need to keep re-reading it. What better place to do that than on a desert island!

What inspires you?

New places and meeting new people. Some of the best people I’ve met have been whilst travelling and there’s nothing better than doing really exciting activities with like-minded people.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Stop worrying about things that are completely out of your control.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do?

Keep it a secret at first! Then treat my loved ones and travel as much as possible.

What’s your favourite quote?

Very cliché but it would have to be “everything happens for a reason”.

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?

I’d really love to take a photography course and learn how to use a dslr camera properly.

What stat for your life would you most like to see?

How many jars of peanut butter I’ve consumed, although I already know this would be a disgustingly large number.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?

Ability to fall asleep quite literally anywhere, it’s a bit of a gift actually.

What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

House plants. Now I just need to learn how to look after them.

What and where is Bristol’s hidden gem?

Wapping Wharf has to be one

of my favourite places for food and drink, especially in the Summer! Otherwise, I love Clifton Downs.

A Lockdown weekend staple was a walk or run around the downs and into Clifton, grabbing a coffee (sometimes cake) and walking back to the Suspension Bridge. That view never gets old.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

I had visions of being a Wedding Planner

How would you describe what Armadillo does?

Armadillo is a Customer Relationship Marketing Agency who use data to change behaviour, working with clients to produce engaging, insightful and creative digital content.

What are the three best things about working at Armadillo?
Number one is definitely the people. It’s so refreshing to work with talented and passionate individuals.

The work we deliver – it’s so exciting being of a team and seeing creative projects come to life. I’m really lucky and very grateful my role allows me to play a part in the end-to-end process.

The energy and positive attitude towards new projects.

What do you like most about your job?

I really do learn something new every day which is great.
