Job Title: Digital Operations Manager
Joined Armadillo: February 2018

What’s your biggest achievement?
After breaking my ankle in 2011, making a successful comeback to football and weightlifting!

Tell us something about you that might surprise us
When I was younger, I was convinced I was going to be a chef, 9 years later I think my attempt at a Bolognese would cause actual bodily harm.

What inspires you?
Great sporting achievements – the stories of people coming from nothing and working hard every day to achieve sporting greatness, such as Novak Djokovic!

Alex’s favourite quote:

“Football, bloody hell.”

Sir Alex Ferguson

What are some small things that make your day better?
Whenever I see my dogs (I have 3) they make me smile no matter what, getting new PB’s in the gym, and not having train trouble would be nice!

If you were stuck on a desert island, which book, film and album would you take?

  • Book – Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve
  • Film – Hot Fuzz
  • Album – Pendulum Hold Your Colour

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever done?
On a family holiday in Turkey, my mum booked a Jeep safari thinking we’d have a relaxing family day out. We arrived with around 30 others, and just when we set off to leave three guys running the trip tipped a massive tank of water over everyone and started the biggest water fight known to man.

In another life, I’m pretty sure I was…
…a Sloth. 100%. I think I slept 13 hours a day, every day, until I was 22.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
The power to silence annoying or loud noises on public transport!

What songs have you completely memorized?
Stormzy Shut Up

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
Eating pizza or playing FIFA. Maybe even both at the same time.

Describe what you do in less than 10 words
Email QA, setup and deployment.

What do you like most about your job?
Seeing the creative approach that our designers take to problem solving.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join Armadillo?
You will need to have watched the Star Wars saga in the correct order! 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 obviously.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
The satisfaction of helping a client with a tight deadline, or getting a tricky piece of work out on time.

If someone only had one day to spend in Bristol, what should they do?
Grab a Five Guys, shop till you drop, and get on a boat down the river!

What are your favourite restaurants and bars in Bristol?
There are too many burger places to choose from, but L’Osteria is probably my favourite place to eat in Bristol now.
